RELATED EXPERIENCE:
I am the President and Executive Director of Rainbow Writing, Inc., on the Internet since January of 2003. We regularly perform professional work in the writing, editing, screenwriting and book-related graphic arts fields. My published writing and editing credits include local and national newspapers, print and online magazines, and ghost written fiction and non-fiction short stories, novellas, novels, ebooks and other books. In fact, I have been productive in the freelance writing field since before 1980. And I have won multiple awards from prestigious writers' organizations such as Writing.com during my tenure on the Internet.
I've been both an assistive and a direct ghost writer, copy editor, proof reader and manuscript rewriter for fiction and non-fiction manuscripts for technical, psychiatric, medical and academic authors, many of which have been multiply published. I’ve written and edited articles, ad copy, business and sales letters, selling proposals for books and ebooks, and various documents for sundry Internet-based and other companies, groups, individuals and organizations. And I’ve been a ghost writer, copy editor and proof reader for many Internet websites, having designed plenty of web copy and updated web copy to suit new design specifics.
These are among my many types of diverse completed projects. I have multitudinous life experiences from which I can draw that will help me work for you, and my work, our team's and our authors' books have been featured on "Hannity and Combes," "Montel Williams" and on the list for published books on "Oprah Winfrey." They've also been on the "New York Times Bestseller" lists, promoted in France and the UK, and sold at Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and other major booksellers around the world. The skies are really the limits with your own books as well, and also with your movie, TV and film screenplays.
I am a member of many writers and editors groups, including "The National Association of Women Writers," with which I'm affiliated; "Today's Woman," a prestige group of poetry writers who "bring poets together"; "Working Writers," a discrete, highly discriminating and limited-membership group of working writers, editors, and publishers; "Copy Editors," an Internet-based group devoted solely to the fine art of copy editing; "TFG" of Madison Ave., New York City, where I work occasionally as a ghost writer; "The eWriters' Guild," which is described as 'a society of talented and noteworthy writers of the Web'; "Freelance Writers," which is for all kinds of sophisticated freelancers; "Authors Den," of which I am a Bronze Member; and the "Comic Writing and Humour" and "Journalism" groups of Write Words, a premier writers association of the UK. I have also joined the "Writing Mafia" group at LinkedIn, where we list as a professional freelance writing agency using and hiring copy and ghost writers, editors, artists, photographers, marketers, publicists, promoters and screenwriters.
I used to keep some writing samples at "Writing.com," where my review work averaged 4.65 out of 5 stars. I may join them again someday, as they hosted a lovely writer's portfolio; but the last time I checked, they are charging an arm and a leg for next to no real space. So for now I'm keeping a recent RWI "samples portfolio" of mainly non-ghost writing work here:
You may access each item in this portfolio if you can open Word 97-2003 or 2007 and PDF files, and even download any of these pieces to view them later at your leisure. We simply ask you not to reproduce, print, mail to others, post, publish, sell, market or redistribute them - they are all protected by international copyrights laws.
I was at one time accepted for membership in an exclusive group of writers and other creative artisans called "Phenomenal Women of the Web," and was welcomed into their upper circle, becoming the "Epitome of a Phenomenal Woman." Also, I was active in Simply Enchanting Angels, a philanthropic women's group of the Web. I joined Mike's Writing Workshop, and I am also an ongoing member of GreatReporter.com, where many of our very best filed Internet worldwide news stories are kept. I am currently listed with Daylo, WriteSight and WritersNet. I am considered to be an Expert Author at Ezine Articles, having attained their Platinum (10% of the Expert Authors) membership, which is only given (without fee being paid) to a few top writers there. And I am also an Expert Author at ArticleClick.com and a listed writer for Associated Content, where I am multiply published. I write regularly for the American Chronicle/California Chronicle as well.
I was an in-house poet, writer and staff Poetry and Fiction Editor at "Literary Magic" online literary arts magazine for three years, since 2007. They hosted my editor's brief biography and occasionally take my story and poetry contributions. I was also on staff as a poet at another literary arts online magazine, "The Jimston Journal," until it folded. "Twisted Tongue" dark arts literary magazine of the UK recently accepted one of my short stories for its winter of 2008 issue. They are still around, and I am planning on sending them a certain other short story, the one about Malcolm Little X Shabazz. I was also nominated for membership several times in the International Society of Poets, and I have attained their advanced membership. I am a member of the Canadian Federation of Poets, where they run my brief biography. RWI and I are working closely with internationally award-winning TV, film, video and media giant Lyons Entertainment on their related book and movie projects. We are working with Black River Media to make several ghost written books into movies, probably documentaries. And lastly, freelance writer and media producer Linda Leon of MVP Print and Media Productions brought me into her team of media professionals in March 2009.
RECENTLY PUBLISHED CREDITS:
Note: You may readily purchase my and our team's ghost written books through Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble, as well as other such planetary book venues.
"AC 666," not the real book's title, was authored by CO II and ghost written mostly by me. It was published by Port Orchard Publishing in 2006, having been published in New York City in 2005. It's a factually based science fiction novel set to be made into a major motion picture, when and if the deals involved come through. The author and his wife have been featured on "Hannity and Combes" and other TV and radio shows, and they have sold an average of 12 copies per day from their book sales website. I copy edited/rewrote a book about a Haitian woman that made the top of the New York Times non-fiction bestseller list, where the author promoted the book widely in Europe; another of my authors recently podcast several radio interviews, selling books through local library and bookstore show signings. Notably, I have proofed, edited, written, researched or rewritten portions or all the contents of the books listed below. But there are many high points of my other published works which I cannot mention, being their avowed and assigned ghost writer. It's completely up to you - whether or not I receive any due credit for my labors.
My work is often poetical in its nature, but I also write fiction and non-fiction prose capably. However, in 2007 and 2008 I was nominated for Poet of the Year and appointed a Poetry Ambassador by Poetry.com, which as of 2009 is known as Lulu Poetry and run by Lulu.com, a well-known self publishing service. They host the International Library of Poetry, and I have won two of their "Outstanding Achievements in Poetry" awards. My poems were published in their 2006, 2007 and 2008 anthologies. "Pregnant Because I'm Pregnant" - which won an Editor's Choice Award at Poetry.com in 2007 - was included, along with "Woes = Two Dozen Bears," which also won an Editor's Choice award. I have won ten Editor's Choice awards from them, including one for "You are NOT 'Disabled, Too'" in January of 2008, and I've also won two Poetry Fellowships plus three of their Best Poet awards. And my "Winter Calls the Way of Life" poem led off the beginning of their winter 2008 anthology collector's edition.
You may read a large compendium of my poems at Karen Cole's Poetry
Other companies than Poetry.com have also been intrigued by my poesy. My poem "Autumn Leaves Never Die" was accepted into the poetry anthology "Centres of Expression," which was published by Noble House. Two of my poems were accepted for inclusion in the Reese Tyler Poetry Anthology, and I won their best poetry award. I also copy edited and proof read a book length poem about St. Joan of Arc in 2007 for B. Kennedy, which was published in 2007. I haven't been mainly writing poetry in 2009, and am not planning on writing much more poetry in 2010. I am pretty much open for your ghost writing jobs instead.
I have also contributed articles and corrections to Wikipedia, the Free Encyclopedia. I successfully entered and corrected an article on RSS codes and one on Center Park, the first apartment building in the United States built specifically for people with handicaps. I have written many service related blogs which are starting to get higher Google rankings, and will be writing several more. One of my favorite blogs, which is hosted on Google Blogger, features fan fiction I wrote about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It helped land me a job in 2007 as the ghost editor of a book about the investigation of his assassination, which is about the life and times of the Birmingham, Alabama FBI team who investigated Dr. King's assassination, and who located and arranged for the arrest of his murderer. One of this FBI's team's members is the man who arrested the assassin of President Kennedy. Also, I recently worked on a book by a Mafia widow which revealed how the East Coast Mob was brought down by one man and how that same man stopped a plot to kill President Kennedy by assassinating his potential assassin.
Anyway, below this paragraph you will find a rundown of my recent projects, the ones I'm able to mention. Over the past 30+ years, I've worked on or assisted with the creation of hundreds of books, both fiction and non-fiction, and performed numerous other projects - such as assisting with screenplays. Many of the books I've ghost written, edited or otherwise assisted with their production have become best-sellers; but I'm not able to mention who wrote them, or the books' titles. Most especially when a book becomes a best seller, the author would rather take all due credit for his or her hard work. It's considered to be the author's privilege, although if you don't mind, I can share credit as a book's coauthor or through the traditional ghost writer methods, such as using the phrase "As told to Karen Cole" on the book jacket or cover, or using "This book would not be possible without my editor, Karen Cole" on the book's acknowledgments page, or on the spine, or in the credits for the movie, film or TV show.
However, I will give you a run-down of SOME of the acknowledged work I've done since we hit the Wild Wild Web in 2003, and also from before then. Here's the details as an extremely long run-on sentence, which is okay in this "Curriculum Vitae" data case of graduated listings (and I personally am available for work, but you must ask about it): a series of articles on Search Engine Optimization which I submitted in June/July 2010 over at Ezine Articles for the sake of those who need successfull SEO tips; a formal two-page letter signed by several Nobel Laureates, written by A---- Azizi, the Save A----- Campaign Coordinator, copy edited and proof read by me and sent to important American federal government officials in June 2010; a monthly writing contest through LinkedIn's Aspiring Writers group, judged by me and other writing pros, based in the United Kingdom, from March to May of 2010; a YA (young adult) sci fi fiction book, copy edited and proof read by me in May 2010, first in a planned YA series of seven such books, to be published sometime in 2011; "Ashes to Ashes," a humerous poem written by me and published by "Living MS" magazine in March 2010; a full book proposal created by me in January and February of 2010, for a fiction-based-on-fact memoirs by a Fijian-Indian retired championship boxer, about his close relationships with South Sea cannibals, multiple worldwide women and the original Beatles foursome, planned to be republished in 2011; several book proposal documents, including a query letter, a synopsis and short and long versions of an in-depth overall literary analysis, created by me through early 2010 for the first book in an ongoing RWI client's new Mexican-CIA book series, set to be published sometime in 2010 or 2011; a fiction novel written by me about "scruffies" who live in Washington State, "The Rainbow Horizon," set to be completed in 2010 and published in 2011; a memoirs about a Holocaust survivor's experiences, ghost written by me out of transcripts, co-authored, filmed as a documentary, set to be released with the published book, and also set to become a feature film produced under oversight of a medium-sized entertainment company and its Los Angeles partners, project to commence sometime "unknown"; a YA fiction chapter book about a Hispanic girl with leukemia, edited, rewritten and proof read by me in May 2009, to be published in 2010-2011; a fiction book about home foreclosures, edited, rewritten and proof read by me in April 2009, published late in 2009; a detailed synopsis for the science fiction book listed above by CO III and other related documents, completed in March 2009; a fiction-based-on-fact memoirs about corrupt Florida government, murder and money laundering in the Caribbean, edited, rewritten, doubly proof read and the project overseen by me, finished in February 2009 and seeking representation; a non-fiction memoirs of a Mafia hit man by his widow, my work completed toward the end of 2008; a non-fiction book on English home party sales, rewritten by me, finished in September 2008; a non-fiction book on yoga by a Singapore teacher, rewritten and further researched by me, completed in May of 2008; "Timeless Wisdom," a book of wise and timeless quotes on how to become a success in life, by João de Saldanha, copy edited and further researched by me, finished in December of 2007; "The Boys of Birmingham," about the crack Alabama FBI team which beautifully handled the investigation of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination case, solving it in two months' time, authored by P. I was also a Staff Editor and Writer on the Human Imagineering Company's "WebZine." And I have several poems on file with the International Library of Poetry at Poetry.Com, where I've won prizes such as their Editor's Choice award.
For the last four years, however, I've been outsourcing to our professional team many of the ghost writing and copy editing jobs that come into this company, as well as graphics, screenplays, general freelance writing and whatever rolls in. But when it comes to my own work, among other unlisted projects, I managed to: coauthor a promo lit ghost writing manual for a book publishing company on Madison Ave of NYC; proof read and copy edit a Russian textbook on a new method of reaching the minds of small children in summer; copy edit/rewrite a book on general sales techniques and another book about a system for winning at English horse races in autumn; and rewrite a graphic three dimensional artist's annual statement of purpose. We also outsourced a book about murder, political cover-ups and money laundering in the Caribbean to one of our "ghosts" - and it may sell reasonably well. Due to the economy, the money is getting tighter when it comes to book publishing. We are hoping things will improve in the future, and encourage you to attempt this exciting experience with us.
Lastly, I am also the ongoing President and Executive Director of Rainbow Writing, Inc. As I have previously stated, RWI's workers include freelance and contracting ghost writers, copy editors, proof readers, manuscript rewriters, cowriters, coauthors, and book authors of several published and soon-to-be-published book manuscripts. And I have been hired as a ghost writer, copy editor and proof reader for multiple websites, write and edit text copy for websites, articles and business documents, and have many returning satisfied customers. I was hired to write articles regularly for an Internet weight loss company, a job I finally had to forsake due to low pay. I must insist here that ghost writers need to be paid properly for our good work and services, in most cases in advance of completing a job. We can sometimes make other arrangements in certain "broad sales" cases, but generally speaking we need paid a decent wage in advance and along with our professional writing services.
RELATED EDUCATION:
From 1978 to 1980, I went to Ohio University of Athens, Ohio, and I attended other schools up through the nineties. I have a self-determined degree in journalism, the fine arts and creative writing. I have attended seven other institutions of higher learning, both on physical campuses and via the WWW, and I've taken several field related classes. I once co-taught a workshop in mass communications and magazine publishing. I also took an Internet-related training course in high-end sales letter writing for multinational corporations. As you can plainly see, I'm always in the process of continuing my own self education.
PERSONAL ENDING STATEMENT:
When it comes down to computers, writing, editing and the fine or the commercial arts, I feel that I'm largely self-taught. My greatest learning will always be through my own individual efforts. However, I have recently taken classes in both team dynamics and project management, and I feel capable of handling the basics of both project integration and group cooperation. I have lots of knowledge and team-oriented access regarding software, hardware and general "hacking around," and I could always stand to learn more and about virtually anything. And I retain ample knowledge regarding the realities of being a cooperative, vital, organized and inspirational team member.
Really, you should hire me and/or
the members of our RWI Outsource Team.
